Is it possible to automate automobile headlights operations I.e automobile headlights switched on in darkness and switched off in broad daylight?.

As far as a kit to upgrade an existing system, I'm not sure.  There are several vehicles that do have this feature, and it may be possible to retrofit wiring from one of them.
My Grand Cherokee has this feature.  It switches the lights on in dark conditions, and when the windshield wipers are on.  They switch off when the engine is turned off too.  I leave my lights in the automatic position all the time, and rarely turn them on or off manually.  
Some systems will dim the high beams to low when they sense the lights from an oncoming vehicle also.
