how do i split the front axle to replace the cv joint boot
also what size is the nut for the front axle

I think the dolt size is around 1 1/8 or 1 1/4 to take the axle nut loose. Now if you want an original style boot I would suggest taking the axle to a driveline shop to be changed due to separating the axle end but the auto parts stores have GM axle boot replacements you can put on without even taking the axle loose, You just cut the old one off and this one goes over the CV joint and screws together at the seam and it comes with a pack of CV lube as well. I have used these and had pretty good luck with them
