4 Wheel Drive/SUVs: Thumping sound, failed component, speed bumps

Question
When i turn there is a thumping sound coming from underneath the car, what could that be and how much do you think it will cost to repair?

When i hit a pothole or when i go over those speed bumps, the front of the car goes up and down making a old rusted spring noise, what could this be and how much do you think it would cost to repair?

Answer
Katrina,

It sounds like you have some worn out suspension components.  This can
vary from shocks, which are the most common failed part, to bad body
mounts.  The cost can vary, depending on the actual failed component.
Shocks can cost anywhere from $20 each to $100 each, depending on the
brand.  Most shops will install them for a minimal cost.
