4 Wheel Drive/SUVs: 92 EXPLORER 4X4 ELEC SHIFT, blown fuse, fuse panel

Question
QUESTION: I HAVE A 1992 EXPLORER 4WD AUTO 4.0 L . THE ELECTRIC SHIFT FPR THE TRANFER CASE DOES NOTHING. I'VE CHECKED THE SWITCHES AND THEY SEEM TO BE FINE. THERE MUST BE A RELAY IN THE CIRCUIT BUT I HAVE BEEN UNABLE TO LOCATE IT. WOULD YOU KNOW THE LOCATION OF THE RELAY FOR THIS FUNCTION?? WHERE COULD I OBTAIN AN ACCURATE ELECTRICAL SCHEMATIC FOR THIS CIRCUIT?? THANKS , CHIP

ANSWER: Check the fuse panel for a blown fuse first, and you could try buying a Haynes, Chiltons, or other 3rd party repair manual from your local auto parts store.

QUESTION: I CAN ONLY ASSUME BY YOUR ANSWER THAT YOU KNOW ABSOLUTELY NOTHING ABOUT THIS CIRCUIT OR YOU ARE NOT INTERSTED IN ANSWERING MY QUESTION. I HAVE ALREADY PURCHASED ENOUGH MANUALS TO KNOW THAT THIS PARTICULAR CIRCUIT IS NOT IN THEM. THE FUSE WAS THE FIRST THING I CHECKED. LONG BEFORE I TRIED THIS ROUTE

Answer
You can try http://www.explorerforum.com/forums//archive/index.php/t-14740.html

He appeared to have the same issue, and several people have given some help so you might want to read that.

or you can look through the list on http://www.explorerforum.com/forums//archive/index.php/f-109.html that page for a closer problem you are having. I looke dthrough the list and that seems to be the closest related to your particular issue. and I read that the controler is located in the Left Rear wheel well, allthough that was in a 93 ranger. It might be there. Good Luck.
