4 Wheel Drive/SUVs: tire noise?, bf goodrich, all terrain tires

Question
Hi. I have 31" All terrain tires on my 94 F150. When I get going about 60mph and am on the gas, i hear a sort of humming noise and I'm not sure what it is.It goes away when i lift off the gas or speed up to about 65 or 70. Is this probably just the tires or possibly something else?

Answer
it could possibly be the tires, i have all terrains except theyre from bf goodrich, and theyre 33's and i dont hear it, but im not 100% sure if they dont do it, cause half of the time i have music up so i dont really hear much, and when its down the winds too loud. i think its just the tires, is there any way you could tempararoly put different tires on it? thats a sure fire way to figure out if it truely is the tirs. but it doesnt nessaraly mean theyre bad, it could just be the brand or the way they were made, some tires on certain surfaces will "hum" while driving. Let me know what happens if you swap the tires. Good luck

Also make sure that you have the proper amount of air in the tires themselves. I think it should be about 35PSI cold, but I would look on the sidewall of your tires, the check the pressure and let air out/add air to get it to the proper amount. Good Luck.
