4 Wheel Drive/SUVs: Reverse and overdrive, linkage problem, cab 4x4

I've got an 1990 ford f150 ext. cab 4x4, and it will not go into reverse or overdrive. What could be the problem?

Sounds like you have an automatic.  This could be a linkage problem, if it is a stick shift, you may have a bent shift fork in the tranny.

I would suggest that you take it to a reputable transmission shop and have them check it out.
