4 Wheel Drive/SUVs: Wrangler Transfer Case replacement, np231 transfer case, advance adapters inc

I have a '92 YJ 4.0 w/5spd and am looking for a used NP231 transfer case to replace the one in it now (collision damage). I found a good deal on a NP231 (23 spline) coming from a '92 XJ (Cherokee). The seller says it may need  to use the front yoke from the Wrangler's old TCase to work, but otherwise should bolt right in. He's checking to make sure the linkage is compatible.
Can you tell me if this XJ to YJ swap will work, and will I need to make other mods or changes?

As far as I know, the transfer cases should be interchangeable.   Just to make sure, you could contact "Advance Adapters," as they should know.  The 231 transfer cases used with the 4.0 in your Jeep should have the 23 spline shaft also.  If the linkage is different in the XJ, you should be able to use your existing linkage.  The 231's out of a Jeep with the 4 cyl engine would have the 21 spline, but the planetary gear with the 21 spline can be swapped out if needed.
