Jeep: Power windows on Jeep Cherokee Sport., jeep cherokee sport, keyless entry system

Question
I have a 2000 Jeep Cherokee Sport 4-door with power windows.  When I operate the windows from the driver's side door, the window  on the left driver's door raises and lowers as it should...the problem is with the right front passenger door.  it will lower if I operate it from the front passenger side switch, but it will not raise. ( no power)  It will not operate in either direction from the driver's door.  I checked all the fuses.  Is it a fuse problem, a wiring problem, a switch problem, a relay problem????

Everything was working fine until this morning.

Right now, the front passenger window is partially open, about 3"   How do I get it to close???

Any help would be appreciated.

I'll take it into a dealer in the morning to see if they can diagnose the problem.

Answer
Hi Dave,

There's really no easy way to get the window up, unfortunately. I've had success *leaning* on the switch, and even giving it a 'love tap' or two. Sometimes, the window won't go up if it jumps out of the track -- but that's easy to see, normally.

According to the schematic, it can't be a relay or fuse problem. It can, and probably is, a switch problem. The way the circuit is designed, B+ has to travel through the Passenger Door Module to get to the window motor -- even from the Drivers' Door Module. From the description, it would probably be a PDM issue, but these things can be tricky at times (Ok, maybe 1 out of every 20). They are generally not too expensive, although I believe this PDM controls the RKE (Remote Keyless Entry) system, so the extra logic adds cost.

By the way, if it is replaced, make sure to check your remotes (key fobs) -- they generally require reprogramming after replacing the PDM.

Good luck!
