ANSWER: You more than likely have a bad rheostat (blower motor resistor).  Find the blower motor and unhook the wires. Check the hot wire with a test light or volt/ohm meter.  The test light should get brighter as you turn up the speed on the blower switch.  If it just lights up on high replace the blower motor resistor, it should be located close to the blower motor in the air box.  Should have 2 screws securing it to the air box.  Hope this get you back going!

QUESTION: can you e mail me a diagram of the blower motor area you are talking about please. I see in baack of the clove box when I ope the glove box a plug of harnes wires blue red yellow brown and black... it this the plug that goes to the blower motor? I see the blower motor under the hood in back of the battery.... My questione would be I don't want to take apart more than I have to. do I remove the blower motor to gain access to the blower motor risistor, of do I take apart the blower box inside the jeep to get to it? and if so any photos or diagrams...... homesjeffharrison@netzero.net that is my e mail if you want to e mail a photo or 2. I'll wait for your answer before I unplug that harnes.... I'm guessing the hot is the red.. would be easey to tell onec unpluged I'll just plug tester in and turn fan switch off to on high ect... are the other wires in the harnes for other speeds?

Answer
The resistor should be directly behind the fan.  So you may need to take the fan out to get easy access to the resistor. There are four wires coming out of the resistor, a Dark green with yellow tracer, a tan wire, lt green/lt blue, and a light blue wire.  Ground the test light, and put the pointed end into the dark green/yellow stripe wire, and turn the switch if the light gets brighter and dimmer as you turn the switch.  If no power comes out of the resistor it is bad, if it does you that wire is broken before it get to the blower relay.
