Jeep: Starting Problem, jeep grand cherokee laredo, jeep grand cherokee

Question
I have a '93 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo 6 Cylinder/4WD. Recently, I've been having trouble getting it started. At first I thought it was the fuel pump and also the coil so I replaced both and this problem is still persisting. Basically when I get into to my car to start I turn the key, it turns over just fine but does not fire up. It seems like on average it takes a bit longer each time. I found online someone with a similar problem and all the answer said was to hold the ignition in the run position for awhile until the check engine light appears then fully turn and the jeep starts up fine, but it has been taking very long holding it in the run position lately. Also, I have noticed that if I go to restart the car with around 5-10 minutes after driving it for awhile it usually starts right away or very quickly. I have heard this could be and most likely is an electrical problem. Can you shine some more light on this and is this a fixable task on my part or should I pay someone to fix it and also is it a fairly expensive job? If you need anymore info let me know. Please do your best to explain what is going on with my jeep. I have double-checked the new coil and fuel pump.

         Thank You!

Answer
YOu have a sensor on your jeep that sends a signal to the ignition coil. This sensor is called a tdc sensor. When your jeep is not starting have some one help you crank the vehicle with a spark tester(or screw driver in the coil wire end close to a ground) if there is no spark then your tds sensor is inop. This sensor is a magnetic induction sensor that is located at the top of the transmision bell housing where the trans and engine meet. it is visible from the top on the drivers side it is fed by 2 wires. As the sensor gets old the magnetic field gets weaker and it takes longer to induce a voltage. It is easy to change hard to get to. It is not expensive less than $100 for the part.
