Suzuki: heater blower, resistor pack, heater blower

Question
QUESTION: I have a 2001 suzuki xl7 my heater just stopped blowing the other day.I checked the fuse and its fine. I was told to replace the blower motor, i did and it still does not work. I don't know much about cars and have no one to help. any help you can give would be appreciated thanks

ANSWER: Only a couple of things left - in the duct between the blower housing and the rest of the heater is the resistor pack that has resistance coils that give you the different speeds.  They can be the problem.  The other is the switch.  You can use a test light to find out where the power is goin - and NOT going...

QUESTION: i have checked the resistor it is fine i believe it is the actual heater switch but i really dont want to take the whole dash off any tricks you know of?

Answer
When I bought my 87 samurai, the previous owner had gotten a three speed generic switch and wired it in and put it in one of the blank positions on the dash.  14 years later, it still works.......  I'm not saying you have to do it, but it's an alternative I've learned to happily live with.
