Suzuki: Suzuki, shift boot, shift lever

Question
I have a 2000 Suzuki Vitari--  4 cyclinder, 5 speed transmission.  While riding down the road, sometimes, the gear jumps out.  Could you please tell me what the problem is?  Thank you!

Answer
It could be anything from an internal problem in the transmission to something as simple as accumulated stuff around the shift boot area keeping the shift lever from fully engaging a specific gear.
Verify that the transmission has sufficient lubricant, and notice how the stick feels going into each gear.  Does it feel "different" going into the gear that it jumps out of? (assuming, of course that it's the same gear every time)

It's not necessarily an "only one thing could cause this" kind of symptom.

Does it pop out on acceleration? Deceleration? neither on or off the throttle?

Since I can't drive it myself, I need this feedback from you to try to help you narrow down cause and effect.
