Suzuki: 2001 Tracker AC Squealing Problem, chevy tracker, altenator

Hello-- I have a 2001 Chevy Tracker 4x4 6 cly. All started with a new belt being put on. When I turn the ac fan on it squeals but it is putting out cold air, the battery is also going dead. Yesterday I went out to start it and the battery was dead, bought new battery and drove car to work on the way home stopped at store now it want start (dead) Had to have it towed. The garage says it needs a new altenator because this ones not putting out enough volts and I need a new ac compressor. Can it be two different problems doing this or am I being hodoed since Im a woman. This is going to cost me a couple thousand dollars.

Ask them if the A/C Compressor can be delayed, and if not, ask for a detailed explanation as to why.  I'd try the alt first and see what happens for a while.  It may well be that they're trying to generate a little "extra profit", but don't go all ballistic until you are certain.
