Suzuki: Samurai clutch, clutch cable, throwout bearing

Question
My '87 Samurai clutch just malfunctioned.  It would no longer go into gear.  We replaced the clutch cable, but now can't get the clutch to disengage.  Is there something special we need to know about setting the adjustments on the cable?  Thanks.

Answer
Nothing special.  There should be about one third of the pedal travel as free play, and then you should be able to feel the throwout bearing depress the pressure plate arms.  I assume that you HAVE verified that the cable housing has split, or some how functionally fore-shortened, thereby rendering the cable inoperative. If not, suspect something else.
