Tips on Buying Cars: New Vehicle Return Policy, jim sears, new car sales

Question
I leased a new 2008 G6 two weeks ago.  The car drives nicely, but I find the car sits much too low and I just don't feel safe driving it. Do dealerships in Canada have return policys?  I've searched the sites and can not find anything.

Answer
Hi Nona: As far as I know, there is no "return policy" once you have signed a lease. I have seen however, The dealership and GMAC work together to roll you into another GM car with as little out of pocket expense as possible. Put as little miles on this G6 as possible and get to the dealership ASAP to have any chance of making this happen. Just a note though: The G6 has tested really well in crash tests. It is a well engineered car. There is even a magnesium beam that runs from pillar to pillar behind the dashboard to further protect you in a side impact. Dual airbags are standard, and you may even have side curtain bags in yours. Crumple zones are built in to the G6 front and rear. It sounds to me that the salesman didn't explain the features of this car to you in depth. Rather than trade it off, you might want to return to the dealership and have the new car sales manager have someone show you all the safety features on this car...there are many.  Take this letter with you, if need be, and please let me know how it works out.    Thanks, Jim Sears.
