Tips on Buying Cars: buying from a young owner, sporty vehicle, independent inspection

I have been searching for the perfect used car from a private owner...and I love the one I found (2004 civic si with 60,000).  But the owner is only 22.  He is looking to get out of the payments (the lien is in his mother's name) so the price is pretty good, but I have reservations about how he drove it...it's pretty sporty and he put an air filter in the engine as well...do you think I should automatically stay away because he is young?  Please, I really need help on this ASAP :)

What a need question I love it and understand what your trying to say.
There is no question in my mind at 22 having a sporty vehicle the pedal has been to the metal a few times, but that would not stop me from buying vehicle.
