Tips on Buying Cars: Buying a used Audi, bluebook value, 2002 audi a4

Question
Hi,

A friend of mine is offering her used 2002 Audi A4 with 45k miles for $14k.  Even though it is around the bluebook value, I think it's a great deal because the market value here in SoCal is much higher (17-19k from dealers).  It's in excellent condition.  Any opinion on this car?

My question is, what do you think about taking it to a mechanic for a lookover?  She took it to the dealer 3 months ago and has a receipt that says that everything is within factory specs.  Do you think this is good enough?

Or should I still take it for both our piece of mind?

The last time I took a car to a mechanic they just tried to sell their services and didn't bother to warn me it had been repainted (I found some overspray before I was about to buy it).

Thanks for your advice.

Answer
Hi Zippy
The Audi A4 is an excellent choice of vehicle if i had to find something negative it would be cargo space and rear seat room, but every one has different needs.

As for taking it for an independent inspection is peace of mind, and will confirm car is still in same condition as 3 months ago.
I would make an appointment with an Audi dealer for a full inspection at a different location than the one it was inspected at last time.
Here are some steps i would like for you to follow, go to my website
  http://www.usedcartips.org/

and navigate to following windows THE TEST DRIVE - TAKE TO MECHANIC - HAS THIS CAR BEEN IN AN ACCIDENT -

Parts and labour can be quite costly should you consider  shopping for an extended warranty,at my website you can get a free quote from Warranty Direct which you can compare with one that an Audi dealer may try to sell you, dealers make huge profit on warranty's while shopping the internet you can save mega bucks.

Zippy...should you have further questions i will be more than happy to help you further
 Regards
