Tips on Buying Cars: buying new without a trade-in, jeep wrangler, model jeep

Question
Hi Ray! I'm looking at buying a brand new 2007 model Jeep Wrangler without a trade-in. I've been told that I should be able to use that to my advantage as the list price is inflated to compensate for the usual trade-in factor. But the dealer says there's hardly any room to move as its a brand new model. Who's right here? Realistically, how much can I expect the dealer to move? Thanks...I've in Vancouver BC

Answer
Hi Dave
Dealers can profit huge on used cars, new cars the profit margin is much less, its all about volume and gaining you as a future service customer.

Whom ever told you its to your advantage not having a trade is wrong,a Mfg list price is not inflated to compensate for a trade-in.
Having a trade, yes the dealer can profit and will profit more if the buyer dont know the true value of their trade.

Here are a few steps to consider, simply get the dealers best price and go to another dealer and compare, it really is that simple but it many cases it does not happen, why, a skilled salesperson knows your shopping price and is highly trained to close the deal on your first visit and many buyers fall into this trap, no matter how sweet the deal you must leave, if you leave it will most likely be with a lowball price that you can shop and compare...
The only question that remains, whom will be in control when its time to part - you or the dealer ? ( stats show the dealer )

Here is another way i recommend but it will cost you a few bucks, but you will get valid value only paying about 5% to 7% over dealer cost, go on the internet and get free dealer quotes, with you being located in canada you dont have as much choice in this area compared to shoppers from the states...go to my website   http://www.usedcartips.org/  and navigate to BEFORE YOU SHOP in that window you will find a banner that says Car Cost Canada, you will get best prices and satisfaction knowing you did not have to haggle...at same time study some steps how to buy a car, good luck, and should you have further Q's i will be here for you
