Car Alarms: Checkmate KD-500+, alarmtek, answer check

Question
QUESTION: Checkmate KD-500+ system on a 2007 Scion. The passive alarming is a real pain, albeit very secure. Is it possible to disarm it so the system works only when manually set, and w/o setting it to valet? Also, if I wanted to get a new key, must it be a transponder type from a dealer? Thanks for your help.

ANSWER: Check the forum search bar for past info on Checkmate at
www.installsupport.com

As far as the trandsponder key, yes, no choice there.
Has to be the same.

QUESTION: Sorry to be naive, I did check, however all I could find is something regarding a switch in the door panel? Is it possible for you to explain? thanks.

Answer
Sorry but it is an internal setting function for the Checkmate
to toggle into and out of passive/active arming and I do not
have, sell, or support Checkmate equipment, so I don't
have any idea how to accomplish it without the user
manual.

Try the Forum and ask the question there so it
can get some more eyes on it.
