Tips on Buying Cars: Extended Warranty Advice, bmw z4, warranty work

Question
Hello,
I’m looking to buy a 2003 BMW Z4 with very low mileage.  The warranty is about to expire so I would like to purchase an extended warranty.  Should I buy one from BMW or go with an aftermarket company and if so which one?    Are there some really good deals out there?
Thanks,
Kevin

Answer
i have never believed in the extended warranty...i worked at a shop where we did alot of extended warranty work and all the people ever said was how much of a pain in the ass it was having the guy come out to look at the claim... and waiting for the check...arguing with the company because you felt there was a problem and they said it was fine...or the deductible was too high...it just always seemed like a problem...maybe the bmw warranty is different, talk to people online who may have used them....but..all the money you spend on the warranty could have been used to fix the car at a shop...no problem....the car you are planning on buying is fairly new...and it is a well built vehicle...with proper maintenance it will last 120000 miles no problem...put that money in a savings account...by the way...i would look into a honda s2000...its an amazing vehicle for less money and its easier to work on and get aftermarket parts....
