Tips on Buying Cars: Purchasing, importing cars, german cars

Question
I really want to buy an automobile from overseas.  I fell in love with an audi that was left hand drive and loved it!!  So, 3 questions: How do I go about purchasing a car from another country?
How can I browse a selection of different cars that they have to offer?
Are taxes and duty going to jack the price of the vehicle up when it hits the U.S.?
I appreciate any answer or guidance you can share with me, thanx!

Answer
Hi Chris,

Please accept my apologies for the delay in responding. I had knee surgery last week and had to take a few days off to recover.

Great question! I don’t have a comprehensive answer for you, but hope this helps.

I’ve been driving German cars for years, first BMW’s, and now a (ticket red!) Porsche, so I understand your falling in love with the Audi. Not being an expert on everything, I did a quick Google search—and didn’t find much. The first and second are articles on importing, the second a commercial site that works with buyers to import vehicles:

I’d recommend you contact an Audi dealership. Whether you’re interested in new or pre-owned, they’ve either done this before, or have some department in the company who does. Take advantage of their expertise.

As I told you, this isn’t the full answer to your question, but it should get you started, Chris.

Regards,

Ron
