Tips on Buying Cars: Vehicle Recalls, mazda dealership, mazda b4000

Question
Hi Ray,

I had bought a 1998 Mazda B4000 pickup used about 4 or 5 years ago.  I bought it from a dealer, so I have no idea who the original owner was.  My question is, is there a way to check if the recalls on my vehicle were taken care of aside from going to a mechanic?  I don't know if the manufacturer keeps track of all the vehicles they do recall repairs on or what.  There are a couple of serious ones involving the fuel line and cruise control, which is why I am concerned.

Thanks for your help.

Rich

Answer
Hi Rich
Go to a Mazda dealer service dept, with the vin # last 8 digets punched into their system you will get full history, in service date, all re-calls - complete details about the Mazda, it will take the service adviser a few minutes, and he/she can provide print outs...

Here is the only little problem, your asking for a free service, and some service advisors are so busy eating donuts and drinking coffee they dont have the time...
Dont phone...go to a Mazda dealership...if there is a line up, wait till its clear...

You can also get full history on the internet...go to my website  http://www.usedcartips.org/
and navigate to ARE SERVICE RECORDS AVAIL for a full understanding
