Tips on Buying Cars: Used Car dilema, mail steve, corroded
QuestionGood afternoon! My daughter bought a used car in Pennsylvania late Friday night (after closing). She really just wanted to get prices of trade-in and cost of another vehicle. she said she felt like pressure, so she signed the contract but they did not get the pay off of her vehicle. She might have put 20 miles on it and had to go to work (24 hour shift) the morning after she went to start it and it was completely dead! She had to find some one to give her a "jump" and he said the battery was all corroded! She also has problems with the tires. The Dealership told her that it was owned by an older couple and everything was kept up. Monday morning she attempt to get her car back because she did not feel safe driving this one, but they told her "a deal is a deal". The way I look at it is it was a lie! Because the car was not serviced. Now the Salesman came to her house to pick up the car and he could not get it started. Finally, the Service dept. just called her and told that it would be $385 but she told them to "shove it". Now the Service Dept. does understand her dilema and said that the General Manager there is (I won't say the word he used) But is there a law in PA for getting her car back since she never really drove the car??
AnswerGerri,
Sorry for all the problems. First off, I am in Florida, so i am not familiar with the laws in Pennsylvania. My first question, did they give her any warranty, ay 30 days, or in the paper work did it say "AS IS CONDITION"?. If it is as is, i think she is stuck. Please review her contract. Next, was it a major dealer or a little lot?? Did she finance?? Lastly, if she is stuck, please tell me year, model and mile and what type of vehicle. I will wait for your next e-mail.
