Hi Ray,
My husband has worked many years programming mainframe computers. His business is all but gone since everyone is now using PCs and networks.
I think I have him convinced into trying his hand at automotive sales. He worked in sales when he was younger (he's 51) but nothing like this.
With never being in this business, what do you think his chances are at doing well and also his chances of being hired?
Also, any additional info or advice you have for some one considering this field would be great.

If your husband within himselv thinks he has got strong people skills thats the first step...
look at any newspaper classified section and you will most likely see dealers looking for sales people some want experience only while others will train...
Your husband's age with most dealers will not come into play...the interview is the key, here he must be strong and outgoing in conversation say things like, i always wanted to sell cars - i know 100% i can do it - i am more than willing to learn all the steps - just give me the chance to prove myselv - i wont take no for an answer...what i am trying to show here Angie be aggresive dealers like that style...its like saying to a customer i wont take no for an answer your here to buy...now has he got this type of skills ?
Selling cars is like a revolving door for 80% of salespeople while the other 20% with real people skills make all the money, and i dare say i have known many in the $ 200k range...
