Looking to purchase 2004 Maxima with 31,000 miles for only $17,000.

Extremely low price for this year and mileage.

Private owner informed me that car has salvage title.

Is this a bad move to purchase this?  Can the car be financed?

If you bought a chair where you knew all four legs had been broken and now glued together, how safe would you feel sitting on it,never mind going down the hwy at 70 miles an hour
That Bill is SALVAGE...i never have and never will buy a salvage no matter how good the deal...
As for finance - buying private yes it all comes down to your credit score
