Tips on Buying Cars: buying a car., expences, maintanance

Hello Steve.
I want to buy a used car. Never had one before. I need something economical,smaller, and more or less reliable. I know nothing about cars. In fact, I don't even know how much is the maintanance of a car. If I am 22, and a beginner, I wonder how much the insurance will be, and what are the other expences that I might not think of ( I live in NY state). I just need to know how a car will affect my life economically. If anything that I wrote makes any sense to you, could you please help me .

Economically, you will be affected....Insurance is high, maintenance can be costly..It is a big step, what is your budget for a car? Do you work, how will you pay insurance etc? Please let me know and i will see what vehicle and price may work for you!
