Tips on Buying Cars: Tips on buying older cars?, older cars, newer cars

Question
Hi my name is Lawrence and I'm a college student with a strong attraction towards older cars. They have something about them that the cars these days don't. I'm especially interested in the '67 Chevy Impalas. Do you have any advice on how to find one and what the price range for one might be? I've been teaching myself how to maintain and repair cars, and have been wondering if cars manufactured from the 60s and 70s are easier or harder to maintain compared to more recent cars? And if maintained properly how reliable can one be? Any advice would be much appreciated!

Answer
Lawrence,

Thanks for your question.  There are many avenues to purchasing an older car.  Go to Google or a search engine and type the year model and vehicle that you want to buy, and several options will come up that you can click on.  You can also go to Autotrader.com, cars.com, or classiccars.com.  As far as maintaining them, it is much easier to maneuver and work on an older vehicle than it is on a new one.  As far as reliability, the newer cars win out.  The technology allows those cars if maintained right to last longer and go longer than older vehicles.

Hope this helps.

Thanks - jB
