Tips on Buying Cars: bad paint from factory, spread paint, small claims court

Question
I just purchased a new 2008 gmc truck in march of 08 and recently noticed some bad paint areas and took it to the dealer and they confirmed my complaint and even pointed out more paint problems all over the truck, also a new bulliten was issued from gm on 5/20/08 about a wide spread paint issue on their 08 trucks. I have all of the issues on that bulliten which are dirt in paint, thin paint (primer actually showing thru), runs in paint. it is all over the truck, so basically the whole truck has to be painted over. I have only had the truck for 3 months and 1,680k for mileage. and they want to stick in the dealers paint booth and repaint it by hand. do i have rights since this is an admitted paint defect problem? I dont think its fair that i have to accept a complete after market paint job for a brand new truck that I spent about $40,000 on!

Answer
Oh my God.

"they want to stick in the dealers paint booth and repaint it by hand"

And this is a bad thing why?
Would you rather have one of those really competent robots do it like they did the first time?  You'd rather have them give you another truck painted on an assembly line then allow them to have a trained professional actually do it right?

Are you actually interested in having them solve your problem or just looking to get famous making a name for yourself in small claims court?

If I had my way, they would not paint vehicles at the factory.  They'd deliever them in a primer state so a real human could then complete the job properly.

And what in the world does that purchase price of the vehicle have to do with the issue?

There is advice in my reply, but I can tell from your post that you are just wanting to be a "winner".

Good luck.
