Tips on Buying Cars: Car returned?, loaner car, cosigner

Question
i bought a car over the weekend but they needed a cosigner. the dealer sent the paperwork to my dad and they are awaiting for them to return it. i put a 1500 downpayment and they give me a loaner car until they receive the paperwork from my dad. now, i need to leave out of the country, have they processed the purchased or can they process it without my dad's signature? if i return the car would that go against my credit history. thank you so much for your help. take care

Answer
Manni,

If your Dad has not signed the paperwork and does not return it then you can return the car and walk away. They may try to keep your down payment but be stern with them and they will refund it. They may charge for mileage on the car you were driving. As long as the contract has not been signed by both parties on it it is not binding.
