Tires: Tire Purchase based on date code, tire purchase, date stamp

Question
What is reasonable age (based on date stamp)to accept tires when purchasing new i.e. 3/6/12 months or ??

Answer
Leo,

Anything within 3 years of production date is considered "new".

If the tires are between 3 and 6 years, then you should expect to receive a discount based on how old they are.  Unfortunately, most tire dealers don't do a good job of telling the customers that the discount they are receiving is because of the age of the tire.

If the tires are older than 6 years, then they should not be sold.
