can i use 245/50/18 inch tires on a 2006 Nissan altima

I have checked the original tire fitments for the 2006 Altima and their average overall diameter is 26.23" according to industry standards.  The 245/50R18 is 28.07" in overall diameter (713mm); too large to consider as a replacement.  Industry guidelines vary somewhat, but it is generally agreed that replacement tires should be within 1 - 3% of the diameter of the originally installed tires. Some car manufacturers have more strict guidelines such as 1%.  Installing such a "tall" tire may have an adverse influence on your braking performance, accuracy of your odometer, and speedometer.
