Tires: tire size question, rim width, race tires

Question
QUESTION: i want to purchase tires that are 29" tall by 10" wide for 15" by 10" rims. what size would this be?

ANSWER: Edward,

First, any tire that is 10" wide will not fit on a 10" wide rim.  The rim wide is always narrower than the width of the tire.

For example:  a 255/70R15 is 10.o" wide with a diameter of 29.1", but the allowable rim width range is 6.5" to 8.5".

QUESTION: ok, i want a 29"tall for a 15"x10" wide rim. what size tire do i need.

Answer
Edward,

The calculator will be of help in this area, but a quick look leads me to believe there is nothing in a 29" diameter that fits on a 10" rim in a NORMAL street tire.

I saw that Hoosier produces a 29X12.50R15LT Pro Street.

I also saw that Hoosier has a number of race tires that fit - as does Goodyear.

I think you need to spend some time hunting around, because what you have asked for is extremely unusual and the application is going to determine where you need to look and if what you find is appropriate.
