Tires: Tires for 2004 ford escape, passenger car tires, tire placard

Question
I Have a 2004 ford escape and I had 225 70R15 Laredo's (SUV)on it. I went today and they sold me some 225 70R15 passenger tires. Can you run passenger tires on an SUV.

Answer
Gloria,

Let's start with the basics:

On every vehicle sold in the US, there is a sticker – commonly called the tire placard - that lists the original tire size and the proper pressure for that size.  The placard is usually located on a doorpost or in the glove box – but sometimes it is located in the trunk or on the fuel filler door.

BTW, it doesn't matter who makes the tire or what pressure is listed on the tire's sidewall, if the tire size is the same as the placard, then the pressure listed on placard is also appropriate.

If you go to your vehicle and find the vehicle placard, you'll notice that the tire size starts with the letter "P" - which stands for "passenger".  So, yes, not only can you run "passenger" car tires on your SUV, it's the kind Ford specifies.
