Question
I have a P185/60R14 winter tires. can i put them on my 94toyota corolla DX that's running with P175/65R14 tires right now? what difference does it make if i put the winter tires on?

Answer
Dennis,

Unfortunately, it is difficult to get the dimensions of the fenderwells for each vehicle made, but that swap you are proposing is small and the tires will very likely fit.

Obviously winter tires are designed for use in winter weather.  They should have enhanced traction for cold and snowy conditions compared to all season tires.

But you should be aware that the general advice is to put the best tires on the rear - and that includes winter tires.  For practical purposes that means 4 winter tires on a vehicle - regardless if it is a RWD, FWD or AWD.  This is because when you lose grip, the end that you lose grip will slid - and that end will want to become the front.  As the vehicle slows down, the grip will return.  It is better to be facing forward, so you can steer around obstacles than to be facing rear, where you can't.
