Tires: tire repair, minimum tread depth, tire condition

Question
Is there a minimum tread depth or tire condition that it is not safe to do a tire repair. Is there a max number of tire repairs allowed on each tire

Answer
Monte,

There is a risk every time you repair something - and in the case of tires, it has to do with the amount of underinflation that took place and how long the tire was underinflated.

1)  Obviously a tire that is worn out would not be a good candidate for a repair.  But at what point does it become uneconomical?  I tend to think that point is 4/32nds, but it is an arguable point.

2)  Since a repair represents a risk, at what point does it become too risky?  I tend to think that a single repair is the limit - but, again, it is an arguable point.
