Tires: Allegro 21 motorhome tires, chevy astro van, motorhome tires

Question
I need to know the proper tire size for a 1989 Allegro 21 mini motorhome. I purchased the vehicle used and the tire sizes on it were not uniform. The vehicle is the 21 ft model based on a Chevy Astro Van chassis. The rims are 15 inch with 5 lug nuts

Answer
Ferdie,

On every light vehicle sold in the US, there is a sticker – commonly called the tire placard - that lists the original tire size and the proper pressure for that size.  On cars and pickups, the placard is usually located on a doorpost or in the glove box – but sometimes it is located in the trunk or on the fuel filler door.

However, RV's are also required to have a placard and it might be located on an entrance door or on an engine cover.

I have a book that summarizes the placards on cars and trucks sold in the US, but RV's are not listed - because they are usually modified from the base vehicle, so the original placard information might not be applicable.

If you can't find the placard, call the vehicle manufacturer.
