Tires: E load range, Tires ECE Mark, Load Range

Question
Can you tell me on Michelin tires for 10 ply what is the difference between load range E on new tires from load range E2 in a circle that came on my new 2008 2500 dodge ram.
thanks
Alan

Answer
Alan,

Load Range is about load carrying capacity.  Load Ranges only come in letters starting with "A" and going up - no numbers at all!

I suspect the "E2" is the ECE (Economic Commission for Europe) mark.  These have the form of an "E" with a number (indicating the country of origin - in your case France) in a circle, followed by another number about some 4 more more digits or so long.  This last number indicates the certification number.

The only thing an ECE mark means is that the tires are certified for Europe.
