Tires: Life of Tires on 2007 G35, infiniti g35, vehicle manufacturer

Question
Hi Barry,
I recently took my car for it's 22,500 mile service. I was informed that it is time for a complete new set of tires. Of course I was shocked, because I am used to getting at least 40,000 miles on tires before I replaced them (on my old Honda). Does this sound accurate to you; replacing tires with only 22,500 miles on them?

Answer
CPalmer,

Infiniti G35's came with at least V speed rated tires.  This means that the wear is sacrificed in order to get good grip.  Not to mention that rolling resistance is also a factor here - and that further hurts the wear.  So it shouldn't be surprising to get lower than expected wear out of those tires.

You should be aware that the vehicle manufacturer specifies pretty much everything about the tires.  So if you bought the car new, I'd complain to the dealer you bought the car from and use the leverage of future purchases.
