Tires: 2005 Ranger tires, tire placard, size tires

Question
Yesterday I bought a 2005 Ford Ranger. 3.0 V6. It came with 220/70/15 size tires. They look a little small for a pick up truck. Are these the right tires? It's a 2WD 5 Speed.

Answer
Daniel,

On every vehicle sold in the US, there is a sticker – commonly called the tire placard - that lists the original tire size and the proper pressure for that size.  The placard is usually located on a doorpost or in the glove box – but sometimes it is located in the trunk or on the fuel filler door.

According to Tire Guides, a 2005 Ford Ranger came with a variety of tire sizes - and one of them is P225/70R15.

I have always wondered why Pickup Trucks and SUV's have large wheel openings - and that makes the tires look small - but I suspect it's a compromise against too much fender.
