Tires: Roll Resistance, Rolling Resistance

Question
Barry, both our passenger vehicles need new shoes. We drive mostly highway. Been reading about a term called 'roll resistance'. I know what it is by definition, but can't seem to find what it is for any particular tire. Is there a source by tire brand and model that I can look up?

Answer
Al,

I explain all of this here:

http://www.geocities.com/barrystiretech/rrandfe.html

But the short answer is, no, the data isn't published by the tire manufacturers and won't be until there is a common test method.

Any data you find on the internet is suspect unless they tell you the test method.

But I think it is better to get long wearing tires and inflate them 3 to 5 psi higher than the vehicle placard.  You get better rolling resistance and don't have to give up traction and wear.
