Tires: Goodyear Assurance Tripletred, tire problems, tire valves

Question
My mom has had three blow outs in the last 7 months after she got the consumer report recommended tire, Goodyear Assurance Tripletred.   They told her it could be the valve stem or she hit something in the road.  And the third one just happended today, so we don't know what this story will be.  The tires are only 1 1/2 years old, so they still have good tread on them.  She had all tires inspected about 6 weeks ago when the 2nd blow out happened, and all were fine then.  We have no confidence in these tires.  She drives a Saturn Sedan.  Are these not a good tire for this car or what's the deal with this tire?
Thanks.

Answer
Dawn,

There is a recall on tire valves:

The recall number is 08T018000

It is also possible that your mom has just had a string of bad luck.  While it may seem beyond reason to have 3 tire problems in 7 months, the statistics say that given that there are 900 million tires on the road in the US, 3 in 7 months is still within statistical probabaility.
