Tires: Follow up on Ambulance Tires, dodge cummins, inch rims

Question
QUESTION: We have the Dodge Cummins 4500 10 lug ambulances and need different rims. What semi rims will fit on these in order for us to put a higher speed rated tire on the rigs? Thanks!

ANSWER: Bryan,

Were you told that you had to change rims ?  I'm not familiar with any standard rims truck or car that have a "speed rating".  Rims typically have a load range and air pressure rating.

QUESTION: Well, for the 19.5 inch rims, the only tires that our ambulance service can find are ones with a 75mph maximum speed which isn't so good for an ambulance. I either need to know where to find some tires that fit our 19.5's with a higher speed rating or I need to know of any interchangable rims/sizes that would fit on the 2008 Dodge 4500. The current tire size is 225-70-R19.5 but clearance is not an issue, so we could go taller if we needed.

Answer
For rims I would reccomend a Fleetpride dealer.  Although I believe the issue here is tires.  Bryan if you contact the brands that I mentoined before I feel that this can be resolved.  If you consider another size tire always remember that in dual tire set-ups that the "Bulge" factor has to be considered...the amount of space between the duals.
