Chrysler Repair: R & R of 1996 Dodge Grand Caravan BCM, dodge grand caravan, roadservice

Question
QUESTION: Kevin,
Similar to what I am reading in many of the postings pertaining to this model's BCM issues, after a tranny rebuild and a motor replace, I now am being told the issue I am having is the result of a bad BCM.
Where(?) it is exactly and what I need to do to remove it(?) are my first concerns.
Once I have it out I need to match it up for a salvage used or have it reprogrammed???

ANSWER: can u tell me what the issue is b4 u go spend 500 on a new computer.

---------- FOLLOW-UP ----------

QUESTION: Kevin, If I turn on the ignition to the point of lighting up all instrument panels, but without engaging the starter, I get no readout of odometer, mpg, eta, etc...I engage the starter, and the van rolls over and starts...the computer disallows gas (I'm figuring it thinks the van is stolen and it thinks the alarm is engaged) and within moments, 5-10 seconds, the van shuts back off.

Some history:
Purchased used after a motor replacement.
Several months later (@ 6) battery/alternator trouble, had to be jump-started by roadservice. From that point on when drive was engaged, upon reaching 15 mph, doors automatically locked...never happened previously.
From that time on, occasionally the van would react as it does now...thought: low on gas...1/4 to 1/2 tank+; thought maybe harness shorting...not!!!
After 1 year ownership had to rebuild tranny...not reputable...taken for $2,600...did not replace TCM...a reputable service did 2nd rebuild $1,000 DID replace TCM...upon installation motor seized-up...replaced 3.3 only <90K miles.

Here we are today:
1st occurrance of non-start: took battery cables of post(s)& removed PCM (was told IT was BCM--not!) after 24-48 hours re-installed & van started say 7 or 8 times
2nd occ: removed only positive cable up to 72 hours upon replacing van again started half-dozen, or so times.
3rd: drop dead trying it won't start and stay running!!!

Unless you have some specific question(s) --I've hopefully told you everything I can think of...I was told by a former Mopar tranny repairman that either my BCM can be refreshed???/reprogrammed??? Also salvage yard said maybe has used one possibly $50...

Your input is greatly appreciated!!!! Thanks TimE.

U have a printed circuit board in the cluster causing this.
I bet u get codes like loss of commutation with TCM,BCM,PCM dont ya? I replace them all the time and unless u are a Chrysler dealer u more then likely wont have a clue to whats going on. A new board will need to be programed once installed by a dealer.
