Tires: LT type tire on a Dodge Van, dodge van, ram van

Question
I have a 1994 Dodge 250 Ram Van.  It is a conversion/family van and it has P235 75 15 tires on it.  Recently, someone said it should have LT235 75 15 type tires at the sidewall is more stable.  I am looking for a more comfortable ride, but it did seem that I had a flat from air leaking on the sidewall.  Is this because it is a passenger type tire and it requires a light truck tire?

Thanks

Answer
Mike,

Yes your Van should be equipped with LT tires or at minimum an Extra Load tire however, if you tow with the vehicle then I would recommend the LT.  Check your vehicles tire placard located inside the driver's side door jam to confirm this.

There could be many reason's for the tire leaking in the sidewall but, the fact that the tire is a P-metric wouldn't be a direct reason.
