Tires: Inside tire wear, dodge caliber, wheel alignment

Question
I have a 2007 Dodge Caliber I've had the tire rotated has they should. I started hearing noise that sounded like a dry bearing so I took it in to have it checked and they said it was because it needs a wheel alignment. Tires are wearing on the inside once I get the alignment do I need to replace the tires they still have very good tread left on them

Answer
Raymond,

There is no question about adding tread rubber back onto the tire - it just doesn't happen.  And the new wear pattern will be superimposed on top of the wear that is already there.

So the question is how badly worn are the tires and is it enough to justify keeping the tire in service - and that question requires someone to look at the tires.

Also, you should be aware that doing the alignment is not going to change the noise right away.  The new wear pattern has to kick in and wear off the old pattern.

So I suggest you have someone look at the wear on the tires and make an assessment of the noise situation.
