Tires: 81 Blazer 4x4 with wide wheels, low profile tires, rim size

Sorry did not think it was conflicting. I basically have some really wide but low profile tires on wide rims. The tires are 295/50R15 and they are dry and cracking. (I found the truck rotting in a yard) I am looking for tires that would fit those rims if possible that will allow me good traction off road...while still being able to drive on the roads and not wear out the tread quickly or lose a huge amount of maneuverability. (I had a 4x4 before whose tires were totally unsuited to drive on roads many many years ago)

Are there other tires I can use on these rims (sorry only way I know how to size the rims is to remove the tire on it and that is not an option atm) I have heard that something like 31x11.50R15 would fit the rim but the question would be clearance on the fenderwell.. I hope that clears up any confusion I had on my first post.

OK, so you don't know the rim size, but you're sure they are replacement rims.  I really need to know the rim size to help you.

There are ways to measure the rim without removing the tire.  Most of the time the rim is stamped with the width.

But I suspect you need more help than just tire size - and since i work for a major tire manufacturer it just wouldn't be right for me to make brand specific recommendations.

So I suggest you work through a local retailer.  Not only should they be able to size the rim for you, they can tell you the best compromise for your part of the country.
