Tires: bigger tire size change for a class C MH - Ford E450 chassis, class c motorhome, ford e450

Question
I have 6 inch wide, 16 in wheels, that accomodate the OEM standard LT225/75R16/E tire. For many class C motorhome owners, overloading is a problem with this size tire - the loads are borderline at best without slimming down.

I am interested in knowing the implications of moving to an LT235/85R16/E (slightly wider, taller). My chief interest is the extra load capacity of these tires. The specs indicate they can go on a 6 inch rim. I have clearance for the increased diameter, do you think the width clearance between the duals is an issue? Any other issues you can think of?

Answer
Steve,

Aside from the issue of dual spacing, there is the issue of clearance in the fenderwells.  This is not only a diameter problem, but a width problem, too.

Unfortunately, I don't have enough experience with RV's to advise you further, but I'll bet the web sites devoted to RVing are good sources.
