Tires: tire pressures, flat tires, gawr

Question
I have a `06 Mazda5(the mini-minivan),im running falken 452 tires with a max rating of 50 psi...i am currently putting 37 psi f/r in all 4 tires to prevent sidewall bulge, the tire store said I should run 35 psi in them but if I do the sidewalls bulge out looking like semi flat tires!!!and I have read I should run different psi in the front than in the back due to weight distribution differences, can you give me any help or comment on this please, thanx, Shain

Answer
Shain,

First you need to find the vehicle placard.  It will list the original tire size and the proper pressure for that size.  The placard is usually located on a doorpost or in the glove box.

Second take a look at the tire size current on the vehicle.  If those 2 sizes are the same, then what is written on the placard in the proper pressure.  If not, post back with all 3 of those tidbits of information and I'll calculate for you what the pressure should be.

Assuming that the 2 sizes are the same:  You are aware that you should have a bit of a bulge - right?

And different pressures because of the weight distribution?  Then that should mean that every time someone other than yourself got in you should change pressures - not to mention when you put stuff in the back.

No, the pressures specified are designed to carry the maximum load the vehicle was designed to carry (That's what GAWR is all about on the placard) and then the vehicle was tested empty to make sure that the vehicle behaved at that condition, too!
