Tires: tire pressure, 20 inch rims, chevy tahoe

Question
I need to know the appropriate tire pressure for 2003 chevy tahoe with 20 inch rims?

Answer
Jacqueline.

There are three things that are needed:

1)  The original tire size

2)  The pressure specified by the vehicle manufacturer for that size on that vehicle

3)  The new tire size.

The first 2 items can be obtained from the vehicle placard which is usually located on a doorpost or in the glovebox.

From these 2 items, you can calculate the load carrying capacity of the tire as the vehicle engineer specified it.

Then the last step is to match that load carrying capacity in the new size - and for that you need to know the new size.

As you can see the calculation isn't difficult, it it does require the load vs inflation pressure tables - something that isn't published on thw web.

Get me those three items and I'll do the calculation.
