Tires: tire size, nissan maxima, stock tires

I have just bought new tires and they didn't have the same size as was on the car. I went from stock tires for a 2002 Nissan Maxima to Yokohama yk520 BW 31725 size 225/50r-17 93v. Was this a bad thing to do and how will it affect performance. These are bigger tires.

these tires are wider, but they are also lower in aspect - and that means they are reasonably close to being the same.  

For practical [purposes these tires are interchangeable and the only performance difference is going to be the difference between the tires you took of and the new ones.
